Walter Pancheri.jpg
"In my art, I don't want to illustrate, but rather transform. My works of art are intended to invite the viewer to engage in a kind of 'reading with the heart' – a silent recognition beyond language." Volker W. Hamann

Walter Pancheri lives and works in St. Ulrich in South Tyrol and comes from a long line of woodcarvers. In his work, he combines this traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary artistic language: a specially developed printing process on wood creates relief-like surfaces that oscillate between painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Only up close do their fine structures and multifaceted details reveal themselves.
