interview
How did you get into art? What inspires you?
My father's anatomy books, natural forms, fractals according to Benoît Mandelbrot, steampunk.
How do you find your motifs?
Where the objective meets what is called the soul.
How did you learn your artistic craft?
With constant drawing, creative trips, art school, nude courses, lithography and etching in the workshop of various artists…
Why do you make art? What do you want to express with your art?
After decades of creating advertising concepts for well-known clients, I now want to devote myself to my subconscious in a creative way. There is no concept - only the paper, the pen and the line.
Which techniques do you prefer and why?
Techniques that are easy to understand and don't take up too much space. I want to feel the line, the pattern, the structure and many details with a pen in my hand. It gives me control over my little world of images, like when a microscope over the blank sheet of paper creates a previously invisible cosmos out of apparent nothingness.
How long does it usually take you to create a work of art?
Average 2-3 weeks
Are there people who have influenced your art?
Horst Janssen, HR Giger, Salvador DalÃ, Francis Bacon, Alfred Kubin, Francisco de Goya, Jonas Burgert, Markus Lüpertz, Walter Heckmann, Helmut Hellmessen.
What is your personal goal as an artist?
To perfect my own style and to surprise myself with each new drawing.
